10 Claude Code Skills That Eliminate Repetitive Agency Work

What a Claude Code skill actually is

A Claude Code skill is a folder containing a single file called SKILL.md. That file holds a detailed prompt that tells Claude exactly how to perform a specific job. Once installed, Claude pulls it in automatically whenever it's relevant — or you call it directly with a /command.

The value isn't the prompt itself. It's that you write the instructions once and never repeat them. Every report, every SEO brief, every brand voice check runs the same way, to the same standard, without re-explaining your requirements.

Hypd uses skills to systematize repeatable deliverables across content and operations work.

How to build and install a skill in five steps

Creating a skill takes about 10 minutes the first time. After that, installing future skills is even faster.

  • Step 1 — Create a new folder on your computer. Name it the same as the skill, lowercase with hyphens (e.g. performance-report-generator)
  • Step 2 — Create a file called SKILL.md inside that folder
  • Step 3 — Paste your skill prompt into SKILL.md — include a frontmatter block at the top so Claude recognizes it as a skill
  • Step 4 — Right-click the folder and compress it to a .zip file
  • Step 5 — Go to claude.ai/settings/capabilities, scroll to Skills, click Upload, and select your zip

The 10 skills worth installing first

These cover the tasks that show up on every client account — the ones that eat time without adding strategic value. Install them once and they run on demand.

  • Performance Report Generator — pulls campaign data and formats it into a clean client-ready summary with highlights and recommendations
  • Competitor Ad Analyst — breaks down competitor ad creative: hook type, offer angle, CTA structure, and estimated audience targeting
  • Brand Voice Checker — audits any piece of copy against a defined brand voice guide and flags deviations with suggested rewrites
  • Social Content Calendar — generates a month of platform-specific post ideas organized by content pillar and posting cadence
  • SEO Brief Writer — produces a complete content brief from a target keyword: search intent, heading structure, internal link opportunities, and word count target
  • Email Sequence Builder — writes multi-step email sequences for onboarding, nurture, or re-engagement with subject lines and send timing
  • Landing Page Copywriter — writes full landing page copy structured around a single offer: headline, subheadline, bullets, proof section, CTA
  • Meeting Prep Assistant — reads a brief on an upcoming client meeting and generates a structured agenda, key questions, and talking points
  • UTM Parameter Builder — generates consistent UTM-tagged URLs for any campaign across platforms and outputs them in a tracking-ready format
  • Content Repurposer — takes one piece of content and rewrites it natively for each platform: caption, carousel outline, email version, and short-form script

Claude Code prompt to build your first skill

Use this prompt inside Claude Code to have it generate a SKILL.md file for any job you describe. Replace the placeholders with your specific requirements.

prompt
Build me a Claude Code skill for the following job:

Job: [describe the task — e.g. 'write SEO content briefs from a target keyword']
Inputs: [what information does this skill need — e.g. 'keyword, target audience, competitor URLs']
Outputs: [what should it produce — e.g. 'structured brief with headings, word count, and internal link suggestions']
Tone/style: [any specific formatting or voice requirements]

Create the full SKILL.md file including:
- A frontmatter block that identifies it as a Claude skill
- Clear step-by-step instructions Claude should follow
- How to handle edge cases or missing inputs
- What the final output should look like

Save it as SKILL.md and tell me which folder to put it in.

Skills compound over time

The payoff from skills isn't in the first week — it's in month three when your whole deliverable library is systematized and every new hire or AI session starts at the same quality baseline.

As you use each skill on real work, run /skill-creator again to refine it. Skills sharpen with each iteration. The goal is a library where every repeatable deliverable has a command.

  • Skills are available on Claude Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans
  • Free plan users can paste SKILL.md content directly into a conversation instead
  • Call any skill directly with /skill-name in Claude Code
  • Claude will also pull in relevant skills automatically when the context matches

Frequently asked questions

  • Can I build skills for tasks specific to my clients? Yes. Skills work best when they're tailored to your exact workflow. Build client-specific versions with their brand voice, naming conventions, and output formats baked in.
  • How many skills can I install? There's no documented limit. In practice, keep your library focused on tasks you run at least weekly — skills you rarely use are easier to just prompt for manually.
  • Do skills work across different Claude Code sessions? Yes. Once uploaded, a skill lives in your account and is available in every session automatically.
